Health Lung vs. Cancer Lung

I agree smoking is not a healthy thing, but it is also so addictive, that one cannot just quit that easy. A smoker does not want to hear anything from a non smoker, they better adjust to a behavior change if it is suggested by a retired smoker. I am sure if I wanted, I could come up with some graphic photos of what smokers do to smoke haters.

Hey anonymous, I'm sorry that the picture made you uncomfortable/irritated. I intend to use this page in a presentation for smoking prevention, directed toward adolescents. Try to understand that non-smokers don't necessarily hate smokers, but rather want to save lives. Some do, I won't deny that, but know that some good comes of the graphic images on the web.

I am doing a research paper on teen cigarette smoking. This graphic really helped me present a point.

I agree that graphics help. Where words might fail to convey that smoking is bad for your health, a picture like this can be powerful. As they say, "A picture is worth a thousand words."

I have always been against smoking. Now that my aunt has passed away from 3 forms of cancer that stemmed from secondhand smoke, I am even more against it than I used to be. Secondhand smoke has even affected me. Before I worked in a restaraunt that had a smoking section, my PulseOx was 98-99%. While working there, it dropped to 94-95%. I'm so glad I quit. If only those smokers could see this picture if they haven't already. Maybe one or two would quit.

Now to finish my argumentative essay on Smoking on Campus.

I'm using this for my Science report on a non-smoking poster I think it's a good picture because it will REALLY get the point across

im a smoker and ur little web page isnt going to help me to quit at all.

its ignorant to suggest a picture is going to make some one stop smoking.

if smoking is really going to be band then it needs to be removed from the selves- yes the government would lose tax money but i'm sure they'd find some other drunk to legalise and levy!

Your pictures are misleading, because you have shown the lung of a smoker with lung cancer. A non smokers lung with lung cancer will look that way too. You need a picture of a healthy smokers lung to compare to a healthy non smokers lung.

A cancerous lung is a cancerous lung, be it from smoker or non smoker...you see what I mean?

Low Level Cadmium Exposure Linked To Lung Disease...Science Daily reported on August 20 that new research suggests that cadmium is one of the critical ingredients causing emphysema, and even low-level exposure attained through second-hand smoke and other means may also increase the chance of developing lung disease. http://www.chantixhome.com/

I am a 54-year-old non-smoker, never smoked. In sixth grade, a trailer came to our school with exhibits of the healthy lung and smoker's lung in large containers of formaldehyde. That visual is still with me to this day...have just broken up with smoking boyfriend of 6 years, waiting for him to quit. He said "I don't want to lose you over cigarettes" but that's exactly what happened. All children need to see this exhibit. Anybody else similarly affected positively by seeing it?

Am 54-year-old non-smoker, never smoked. When in sixth grade, a trailer exhibit came to our school, we walked through and saw two lungs in large containers in formaldehyde (or so they said), one pink and healthy, the other black and tarred. I can still see this visual today, almost 45 years later. Just broke up with sweetheart who smokes after waiting 6 years for him to quit; both his sons smoke, and now he has a granddaughter...thought that would do the trick. Anyone else see that exhibit, and who ran it? What impact did it have on you?

I have been a smoker for almost 4 years... it was a nasty habit I picked up in college. I knew the effects of smoking, but chose to smoke anyway. I became addicted and hated the fact that i was. I tried quitting multiple times, even with Chantix (which didn't do a thing for me). I quit smoking almost 2 months ago without the help of pills or patches or gum. We all learn in school and from our doctors the harmful effects of smoking. It has nothing to do with ignorance, it comes down to personal will power and how badly a smoker REALLY wants to quit, and not just for those around them but for their self.

You are right we should stop smoking or it will kill you. People may not be conviced about the picture but they are fools, they say that they smoke and nothing happens to them but just they wait, one day they will regret it just like millions if people have. If you disagree prove me wrong!!1

I am a smoker. I tried quitting a couple of times, even succeeded for two weeks. Needless to say I began smoking again everytime. I just decided to try again, this time with Nicorette Gum.

I read through the whole users guide and wanted a graphic picture to remind me why I need to quit. The more graphic the better, because although not all smokers' lungs may look like this, we are actively choosing to move in that direction and only luck would prevent this eventual fate.

Thank you for posting it.
